jim is on his way to the hospital for his ct scan.  he wouldn't let me go because he didn't want me sitting there in the hospital with H1N1 still being an issue. luckily,this procedure doesn't put him to sleep so he can drive himself to and fro.  next week he will have some more tests done and those i need to be there for since he will be put under for them,(he can't fight me on that,i have to drive him home).
i appreciate all your kind thoughts and will keep you all posted.  i hadn't been writing about this situation and it was very hard for me,i feel better once i have written something out.  of course,i have been writing in my book journal,but it's not quite the same,again thank you.

Happy Birthday!

I had a late start and a gruesome day painting, vexatious brushes
all thumbs and and paint that was too sticky or not sticky enough.

I stuck it out because
I could not believe how rough it was going and was sure any minute
I'd hit a patch of flow. Never happened.

But I pronounce this done for now and that
almost consoles my achy feet.

I don't mind watching "It's a Wonderful Life" once a year at the holidays. I really love the message of that movie! And I've loved Jimmy Stewart forever.



Don't really have any holiday movies that annoy me, although the other night I fell asleep with Wizard of Oz repeating on TNT ...(Fell asleep like Dorothy in that field of poppies!) I forgot how campy that is, with the flying monkies and the melting witch, the lollipop guild, and the earnestness of Judy Garland. It's still an amazing story. Oh - WEE - Oh!


(honest to God you'd think you had to have a neurological disorder to be in the lollipop guild..) ROFL

i have been crocheting up a storm lately. these hats are so much fun to to - it feels like painting with yarn. this one is primarily wool - mostly merino which is soft on the skin. several of the yarns are hand dyed or painting, so extra special. I've embellished it with a fabric rose and velvet leaves. The fancy yarn at the rim has little puffs that frame the face. I've have more of these available after the holidays.

That is, I am at the Starbuck's testing out a true and actual free wifi connection. Not from Starbucks, but from the thai restaurant next door, which I often frequent anyway. My Dawg! 54Mbps!

Starbucks "free wifi", like a lot of hotels, is not truly free wifi internet surfing, it's just the free INTRO PAGE that insists you pay by the hour or month, if you want to get off their home page.

Anyway I'm a cliche because I'm sitting here with my mocha (second one this week!) and my Madeline cookies *dies* lookin like all the other yuppies on their laptops. I didn't even bring a cord! w00t (Battery says 3hrs remaining)

Headache's better... :) I can switch up the dark background soon.

Hi! I live in an adorable 2-bedroom in Brooklyn that has tons of potential but is currently kind of a craphole thanks to some awful ex-roommates. The kitchen is my first project, and I'm having an impossible time deciding on paint.





My first idea was to paint the inside of the shelves a bright, happy green and the outside + lower cabinets crisp white, the same as the walls are going to be. My thinking was that shiny white dishes would reflect the green and somehow be pretty, but the green wouldn't be over powering.

But then I started thinking that painting the lower cabinets the same color as the walls would be too stark and so maybe I should just go with the existing scheme and just paint over the seafoam with bright green?

BTW, the colors I'm thinking of using are Benjamin Moore Decorator's White and Lucky Charm Green.

Any thoughts or ideas?

back home once again!  i went to mom and dad's for a couple of days so i could help mom finish up some christmas stuff.  we did some shopping,went to see the gorgeous displays at the mission inn hotel,and made tamales. here is a picture of mommy and santa!  aren't they adorable?! when jim and nick came to pick me up on sunday,they brought nick's best friend along and we went back to the mission in so that the kids could go ice skating. they were so cute in front of the giant christmas tree in the lobby.  so many people were trying to take photos that we had to wait for a turn and even then,there was some jockying for position!  *giggles* i'm hoping to see a couple of my friends this week and give them their presents.  not sure if it will happen,i haven't really said anything here,but it's been kinda crazy here. my husband jim has been ill,he's lost about 35 pounds and he's been going thru tests to see what's wrong,tomorrow morning he's having a ct scan.  i've been working really hard at not getting crazy scared,he's stressed enough and doesn't need me to go off the deep end on him. please send prayers and healing his way,i would appreciate it,i know it can work,just look at the son i have that the doctors said would never happen.

A bit on the landscape-- green.

Really pushing to wrap this one up, but it needs probably two-three more
days. I wonder if I want it done to deflect attention from the two-panel
painting with the tiger, which feels like one big unanswerable question.
I trust my process and it will make sense eventually, but it really
doesn't right now.

Isn't this beautiful?! Have any of you been? I want to go there.
